Terms of use
Short version: the tools are free, use them for yourself and for addresses you are responsible for, do not hammer them with scripts, and remember that IP data is an estimate. Last updated 2026-10-21.
Use of the tools
You may use CheckMyIP's tools and pages free of charge for personal and commercial purposes. You may not use them to attack, probe or harass third parties, to build a copy of our service, or to circumvent our rate limits. The port checker tests only the address your request comes from; attempts to point it at other hosts are rejected. Lookups of other people's addresses show only publicly registered network information, which you may use lawfully. The site's text, design and code are ours; the third-party data we display belongs to its publishers and is shown under their licenses, which are listed on the methodology page and must be preserved if you reuse the data.
Fair use and rate limits
The web pages are for people, not scripts. Automated access is welcome through the endpoints documented on the developers page, within their published limits (for example 600 requests per minute per address for the plain-text and JSON IP endpoints and 20 port checks per minute). Requests above those limits receive HTTP 429 and may be blocked for a period. If you need more, write to us before you build on the service; for an embedded widget, use the published widget code rather than scraping pages.
Accuracy disclaimer
IP geolocation is an estimate: it is usually correct at country level, often at city level and never at street level, and it is wrong more often for mobile, VPN, cloud and anycast addresses. Proxy, VPN and reputation verdicts are built from published lists and heuristics and carry a stated confidence. DNS, WebRTC and IPv6 leak results describe what our servers and your browser observed during that test only. Nothing on this site is a guarantee that a connection is anonymous, safe or compliant, and it must not be used as the sole basis for a decision that affects a person — for example blocking a customer or accusing someone of fraud.
Liability
The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from use of the site or reliance on its results, including losses caused by inaccurate third-party data, interruptions or security incidents beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms are governed by the law of the State of Delaware, United States; disputes go to its courts. If a clause is found invalid, the rest remains in force. We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do.
